The Guild Wars Ritualist is a factions profession in the guild wars online game, meaning it can be selected from only from theGuild Wars Factions game. You can get into Guild Wars Prophecies and, Guild Wars Nightfall by doing quests with this character. The Ritualist
The Ritualist is a caster profession in the Guild Wars game. Ritualists are call upon spirits to help fight. They also use a variety of spells to do damage to their foes or heal their allies. One thing you never want to do when fighting a ritualist is give them time to summon the spirits, for if they do your fight will get extremely hard.
The 3 main types of Guild Wars Ritualists are :
Spirit Spammer - This Ritualist gets out as many spirits as fast as they can then tries to keep them all up as they fade away.
Caster - This Ritualist normally does not use the summoning of spirits to fight but uses high damage lightning spells to harm their foes. Never underestimate them or you may find yourself watching the fight from the ground.
The below skills are for a basic Ritualist Caster Build
- Renewing Surge - Target foe is struck for lightning damage. If you are holding an item, this skill recharges instantly.
- Channeled Strike - Target foe is struck for lightning damage. That foe is struck for an additional lightning damage if you are holding an item.
- Cruel Was Daoshen - Hold Daoshen's ashes for up to seconds. When you drop his ashes, all nearby foes are struck for lightning damage.
- Spirit Rift - Open a Spirit Rift at target foe's location. After a few seconds, all adjacent foes are struck for lightning damage.
- Clamor of Souls - Target foe and all nearby foes take lightning damage. If you are within earshot of a spirit or holding a item, you gain 10 Energy or Channeling - Whenever you cast a spell, you gain 1 Energy for each foe in the area
- Spirit Burn - Target foe is struck for lightning damage. If any spirits are within earshot, Spirit Burn causes Burning
- Energy Tap - Target foe loses Energy. You gain 2 Energy for each point of Energy lost.
Support - This Ritualist is one that doesn’t fight so much, as they will keep the group alive through some spirits and healing. Yes they can heal, but not as well as a Monk but they do very well.
The below skills are for a basic Ritualist Support Build
- Mend Body and Soul - Target ally is healed for Health. That ally loses one condition for all spirits within earshot.
- Spirit Light - Target ally is healed. If any spirits are within earshot, you don't sacrifice Health.
- Patient Spirit - Target ally is enchanted. When this enchantment ends, that ally is healed
- Ghostmirror Light - Target other ally is healed . If you are within earshot of a spirit, you are also healed
- Healing Ribbon - Target other ally is healed. Up to 2 additional allies near target ally are healed
- Rejuvenation - Create a spirit. This spirit heals all party members within earshot each second. This spirit loses Health for each party member healed in this way.
- Preservation - Create a spirit. Every 4 seconds, this spirit heals one non-spirit ally in the area. or Union - Create a spirit. Whenever a non-spirit ally in its range takes damage, that damage is reduced by 15 and the spirit takes 15 damage.
- Resurrection Chant - Resurrect target party member with up to your current Health and some Energy.
Choosing a secondary profession for your Guild Wars Ritualist.
When choosing a secondary profession for your Guild Wars Ritualist, first you should decide on what your main goal is going to be. Once you have decided, look at the skills that the other professions have. You can even test some of them out in the game through missions before deciding. This will let you decide if those skills will help you do what you want in the game. For example: You decide to go with the Support build, with mainly skills to help you heal. Choosing a Monk would be a good choice because they have skills that can help you heal and protect your group.
Ritualist as a secondary class for other primary professions.
The Pro's The Guild Wars Ritualist is a great secondary profession for the other professions in the game. You can pre set a trap for the mobs then pull them into it. How about healing, that is always good, and their are several weapon buffs.
The Con'sThe bad thing about taking a Ritualists as a secondary profession is that almost all of the summon spells take a while to cast, and use quite a bit of magic. Some of the spells are based on holding an item like a flag or one you can create through your spells. When you do this though your magic power may decrease if you were boosting it through your weapon. The same goes for your hit points.Basic Ritualist Info
Armor: Ritualist have low armor, so they will take less damage in a fight, not much less but some. There are 19 sets of armor, each with its own unique look. There are five pieces to each set. You can mix and match your armor to create a unique look for yourself.
Weapons: In Guild Wars you can use any weapon in the game. Ritualists usually use wands or staffs. The damage from this weapon is low but has a medium range to it. It fires out a magical energy ball.
Magic: All characters have the ability to use magic, so every character has a magic or power pool. Ritualist have a very high amount of power and a high power regeneration.
The Attributes of a Guild Wars Ritualist
Attributes are the groupings that skills fall under.
Spawning Power - This attribute is the primary line for a ritualist, which means that only a ritualist primary can put points in this attribute line. For every point you put in this attribute the skills in it get stronger. The more points you have in this line the more life your summoned / created creatures will have, and your weapon spells will last longer.
Channeling Magic - This line more about offensive spells and spirits. Most of your damage will come from this line. You will do more damage with more points in this skill line. Also for every point you put in this attribute, the skills in it get stronger.
Communing - This line is mostly on protecting. It has spirits that will slow or help stop damage, has many weapon spells as well. For every point you put in this attribute, the skills in it get stronger.
Restoration Magic - This is the heal line for a ritualist. This attribute line has spirits that help heal, and spells that heal others. For every point you put in this attribute, the skills in it get stronger.Ritualist Basic Build Ideas
When you start to create a Guild Wars Ritualist build you will discover you can only take 8 skills with you. So making a build that allows you to continue to use your skills is very important.
- First and most important is to choose skills that go with your play style.
- Always keep a eye on your power because it drains quickly when using spirits .
- Don’t be afraid to try different skills and skill combinations, for you will learn what skills work for your play style.
- Pick a secondary profession that fits with your play style and build.
- Watch out for players using interrupts, they will be able to stop you from casting your spirits.
- When choosing your armor, each piece can have one rune and one insignia. Read each carefully because placement has some effect on some of the insignias.
The Ritualist is a fun class to play specially if you like to set up before you attack.
